FIRE TEMPO
“Fire Tempo” / audiovisual installation of two opposite and synchronized projections / Dimension variable / 2011
The project “Fire Tempo” tackles the concept of resistance, as a social game. It refers to the activity of a small group of people living in a small neighborhood. It has to do with “saites”, as we call the handmade construction with cardboard and gunpowder, that people lit at night holding them in their hands. They gradually approached one other in the streets of the neighborhood treating a complex of flame, smoke and above all deafening sound. In the installation the viewer is between a sequence of movements, stable as a sounding tempo. One projection refers to prefabrication and preparation, while the second one refers to detonation. The timing of the project attempts to capture this very thing, that is a potentiality situation, a precondition, what is expected to happen. The question, however, remains open: can the game relate to an action, to a resistance ritual?
