SIGNAL
Signal / Site-Specific Sound Installation / 2014

The visual artist’ s group PER SE was created in 2012 and is composed of  Panagiotis Vorrias and Panos Kompis. The Per Se refers to an open group that seeks collaboration with different fields in order to investigate the boundaries of art language within the social field.

The sound installation «Signal» is created in the context of DIA exhibition (2014) and placed at the yard of the Byzantine and Christian Museum in Athens with intervening role at the Duchess of Plaisance’s historic building, during the exhibition. The audial intervention of the artwork as a medium of invitation, communication, warning and avoidance of danger comprises the diavlos-channel of bordering the past with the present.

The use of acoustic device for announcements and statements in a public place, that is directly interwoven to the political matters, forms a radiating mean of a sonic mark that has inverted direction to the architectural structure. Rhythmic sound, repeated as gathering calls or warnings, saturate the yard of the Byzantine and Christian Museum either rolling or rupturing it.
