In ancient times, citizens made collective decisions often by sound, by shouting. In our recent history, in Latin America as well as in Europe, there have been public marches and protest gatherings focused on sound, by banging various utensils. In our country, during the years of the recent economic crisis and even to this day, political protest gatherings are held with reference to the sound, the noise, and more specifically the mass sound of disapproval. What is rejection on an individual or collective level? Is it a disapproval of the modern way of life? Is it the disapproval of our political system? Is it contrast, is it relief or a kind of self-deprecation?
In a small open-air theater, in a park in Athens, in Goudi, invited people (artists, performers, musicians, actors) will stand up in the stands, composing a choir that will engage in a sound composition only with shouts, without words. The moderator (P. Vorrias) with musical choir terms will have the guests indulge themselves in coordinated sounds of disapproval. Overlaps, patterns, intensity, volume, duration, meter, tonality are elements that will emerge through the composition of these disapprovals.
Ambiguous political messages, ambiguity but also issues of moral order and democracy are raised in an open discussion, with seriousness, humor, elements of parody and plenty of self-sarcasm. The work is a social commentary, a social game and motivates the subject to find his place in collectives, to en- gage more with common problems to find solutions, against everyday stress, depression and loneliness.
